Alex Lifeson 1976 ES-355 Epiphone Reissue & Rush Tour Dates

Inspired by Gibson Custom recreation, the ES-355, featuring T-Type Humbuckers, a six position Varitone, and dual outputs - in Alpine White

The Alex Lifeson 1976 ES-355 Reissue, a faithful recreation of the legendary guitarist’s beloved 1976 ES-355. Inspired by the instrument that helped shape the unmistakable sound of Rush, this Custom Shop-inspired model delivers the tone, feel, and character that have defined Lifeson’s playing for decades.

More than a traditional signature model, the Alex Lifeson 1976 ES-355 Reissue captures the innovation, versatility, and expressive performance that made the original guitar a cornerstone of progressive rock history. The model is now available worldwide through authorized Epiphone dealers, Gibson Garage locations, and online.

“The ES-355 has always held a special place in my heart,” says Alex Lifeson. “It has a unique combination of sophistication and power. What excites me most about this Epiphone recreation of ‘Whitey’ is how closely it captures the spirit of the original while still feeling vibrant and inspiring. It’s a guitar that encourages exploration, creativity, and personal expression, and I’m excited for players everywhere to make it part of their own musical journey.”

Built with a five-ply semi-hollow body crafted from maple and poplar, the Alex Lifeson 1976 ES-355 Reissue delivers the premium feel and elegant aesthetics expected from an ES-355. Multi-ply binding adorns the top and back, while a solid maple center block enhances sustain and helps minimize unwanted feedback. The result is the rich, dynamic, and highly expressive tonal character that has made ES models a favorite among generations of guitarists.

Continuing the vintage-inspired design, the guitar features a three-piece maple neck modeled after the original 1970s instrument, complete with a volute that reinforces the transition between the neck and headstock. Its comfortable Slim C profile offers a fast, fluid playing experience, while the ebony fretboard adds a touch of elegance along with the articulate response and snap players expect from a premium instrument.

The fretboard is dressed with large mother-of-pearl block inlays and 22 medium-jumbo frets, blending classic aesthetics with modern playability. At the headstock, Epiphone's Gibson-inspired open-book design is accented by multi-ply binding, mother-of-pearl Epiphone and Custom split-diamond inlays, and premium die-cast tuners fitted with keystone buttons. A Graph Tech® nut enhances tuning stability, ensuring dependable performance whether on stage or in the studio.

Adding a personal touch, Alex Lifeson's name is engraved on the truss rod cover—a subtle tribute to the guitarist whose legendary tone and creativity inspired this remarkable recreation.

Premium appointments continue throughout the instrument, with gold-finished hardware lending an unmistakably luxurious look. A harmonica-style Tune-O-Matic bridge and matching gold pickup covers complement the guitar's elegant aesthetic, while a gold Maestro Vibrola adds expressive pitch control, allowing players to introduce everything from subtle vibrato to sweeping tonal textures.

At the heart of the guitar's voice is a pair of USA-made Gibson T-Type humbuckers, carefully chosen to capture the warmth, clarity, and dynamic response associated with Alex Lifeson's legendary sound. The electronics package offers extensive tonal flexibility, featuring individual volume and tone controls, premium CTS potentiometers, Mallory capacitors, and a Switchcraft three-way pickup selector. A mono Varitone switch further expands the sonic possibilities, while a dedicated mini-toggle allows players to engage or bypass the circuit as desired, making it easy to move from classic ES-355 tones to more distinctive, nuanced textures.

Built for players who value creativity as much as craftsmanship, the Alex Lifeson 1976 ES-355 Reissue reflects the spirit of exploration that has defined Lifeson's career for more than five decades. Finished in a striking Gloss Alpine White, the guitar blends vintage-inspired elegance with modern performance, delivering the premium feel, materials, and versatility that have made the ES-355 a favorite among discerning musicians.

Completing the package is a custom hardshell case featuring a black exterior adorned with a reproduction of Alex Lifeson's signature, gold hardware, and a plush red interior—an appropriately refined home for a guitar that celebrates one of progressive rock's most influential players.
